Satellite Beach.....Are You Ready for the Challenge???? 

The 2017 Health First Mayors' Fitness Challenge is on and we are excited about the FREE classes and events that are being offered. 

The Mayors' Fitness Challenge starts on February 4th and runs through May 5th, 2017.

Long Doggers Run for Brews begins at 7:00 pm every Tuesday at the Satellite Beach location. Participants will complete a 5k and then enjoy some social time at Long Doggers after. Tuesdays are t-shirt night as well, wear a shirt from Long Doggers and get 10% off of your bill. 

Zumba Gold/Active Senior Dance Fitness with Rochelle will be offered every Tuesday at 6:45 pm at the David R. Schechter Community Center.  We're high energy, low impact!

Yappy Hour Dog Walk is a dog-friendly walk around the Satellite Beach Dog Park. A great social event for you and your pooch! Walkers will meet at the dog park at 5:00 pm every Friday during the challenge. Click here to read the flyer with more information.

Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, ping pong and racquetball. It is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S.  All levels of abilities are welcome.  Join us at the David R. Schechter Community Center at 7:00 pm on  April 24th.

Paddling Paradise- located at 729 N Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne is offering discounted rates for Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP). On Saturday, April 29th from 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. Paddling Paradise will charge $15 per hour for participants. This is a great oppertunity to try this popular water sport.

Kickboxing with Shannon at the Satellite Beach Civic Center at 6:00 pm April 26th, which is the last class. Kickboxing is a  group of stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a contact sport.

To Write Love on Her Arms “Run for It” 5k -This Annual 5k is an invitation to move for something that matters and to challenge the stigma of mental health issues in our community. The race starts at the David R. Schechter Community Center at 8 am on April 15th. To register and find out more about the race visit . **Prices for this race have not been posted.

Melbourne Mayor's Challenge Walk April 15, 8 a.m., Melbourne Causeway, the park at Front Street Community Center. FREE event.

The 30th Melbourne Art Festival 5K Flamingo Run will be held Saturday, April 22nd starting at 7:30a.m. This is a Running Zone race, the link to register is Cost is: $25 by April 14th, 2017, $30 after April 14th and day of race, $20 by April 14, 2017 for runners 9 and under or 65 and older, $25 after April 14, 2017 for runners 9 and under or 65 and older, $23 per person for teams (special corporate rate available, contact the (Race Director).

Finish Strong with Mayor Catino at the Long Dogger's Run for Brews! Long Doggers and Mindy and Frank will host a special run on Tuesday, April 25th with a bounce house, FREE beer tickets to be passed out and tons of FUN! This run will be in celebration of the edning the Mayors' Fitness Challenge so come out and join in. Free childcare will be available from SHS ROTC as well!

Cook with Me-Parent and child nutritional cooking class will be April 29, 10am-12pm at the DRS Concession Room. This class includes nutrition education and hands-on preparation of healthy and delicious foods and snacks.

Get Active Brevard 5K Run & Walk-May 6th at 7 a.m., Viera Hospital, 8745 N. Wickham Road, Viera. This is a FREE 5k and following th erun at 9 am is the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge Awards.
