Satellite Beach Farmers Market
The Satellite Beach Farmers Market continues weekly at Pelican Beach Park, 1525 Hwy A1A, on Thursdays  10am-4pm. We are pleased to offer produce, fresh bread, jams, hand made lotions and soaps, teas, honey, hand crafted jewelry, wood artwork, tiki carvings and more. All items are hand crafted. PAL Youth Teeny Bopper Dances
Open to K-6th graders. Held at the TEEN ZONE, located in the DRS Community Center Building. Cost is $5/person.

SB PAL Food Truck Fridays!
Looking for an evening out with the family? Visit our Food Trucks for dinner the 3rd Friday of each month from 5-9pm at the DRS Community Center, 1089 S. Patrick Dr. PAL Youth Leadership Program will have beverages for sale. For more info contact the Police Athletic League (PAL) at (321) 777-8336.

August 30    Oyster Gardening Workshop
The Brevard Zoo will present training to become an Oyster Gardener at the DRS Community Center from 6-8pm. Help improve the quality of the Indian River Lagoon by growing filter-feeding native oysters from your dock! Pre-register at  https://restoreourshores.org/

September 9    Community Garden Ribbon Cutting
Join us at 4pm for the Grand Opening of the Satellite Beach Community Garden, 499 Desoto Parkway
(next to the Tennis Courts).  Residents may become a part of the volunteer program “Sustainability and Stewardship” which will focus on city wide sustainability projects and workshops. September 9    Backyard Chicken Basics Workshop
Learn the basics of owning Backyard Chickens at the DRS Community Center from 10am-12pm.  Topics include: diet, housing, sanitation, daily care, backyard flock management in an urban setting including getting permits, choosing suitable varieties, coop and run requirements, feed, health issues, predators, hot climate care, composting chicken waste and more. Taught by Extension Agent Joe Walter and Fantastic Farm 4H Leader Erika Maier. September 16    Florida Coastal Cleanup
Sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy and Keep Brevard Beautiful at Pelican Beach Park, 8am-12noon. Trash bags, gloves, data cards, pencils and sunscreen will be provided. September 16    National Drive Electric Car Show
Join us at the DRS Community Center from 10am-4 pm for a National Drive Electric Week Car Show.  This is the BIGGEST Nationwide event for ELECTRIC VEHICLES.  We will have both static cars on display for you to look at and peek under the hood as well as a set of cars ready to take test rides and drives around the block!  Further information may be found at: https://driveelectricweek.org/event.php?eventid=917.

September 30   PAL 15th Annual Super Bunko 
Bunko is an “Adults Only” game of dice and you can learn as you go!  Sponsored by the Police Athletic League (PAL) to benefit their youth programs. Teen Zone doors open at 6:00pm (dinner included!) and dice roll begins at 7:00pm.  The night includes a silent auction, Chinese auction, prizes and fun.  Advance tickets are $20 from the Recreation Dept or $25 at the door. Sept 30     Long Doggers Kids’ Marathon & Half Marathon
This is a great event for kids 12 yrs and under! Parents can run with their child for free! Medals to all finishers and a special award to the Double Dog Dare finishers. Largest school participation receives $250 for their school! Register for the Marathon (2.62 miles) and Half Marathon (1.31 miles) for $15 each or the Double Dog Dare combined run for $25 online at http://www.runningzone.com/series/kidsrun/.

October 7     Operation NOW  (Not On Our Watch)
This FREE event is from 10am-2pm at the SB Teen Zone. It brings to light the hazards and distractions associated with driving. This is a free event open to people of all ages. For more information call (321)777-8336 or visit www.satellitebeachpal.org.

October 8    PAL/Lions Club Pancake Breakfast
Enjoy this community pancake breakfast at the SB Civic Center from 8am-12noon. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased in advance at the PAL office, SB Rec Dept, or from a Lions Club member.

October 14   Scorpion Ford Test Drive
Test drive a  Kelly Ford vehicle at the DRS Community Center from 10am-1pm. SHS will receive a monetary donation from Kelly Ford for every test drive, to assist with improving  handicapped access to the stadium bleachers at SHS. GO SCORPS!

October 15   Lagoon Fest VW Show
The 4th Annual Vintage Volkswagen Show will be held at the DRS Community Center from 8am-4pm. Enjoy art vendors, raffles, live entertainment, a bounce house, Children’s Natural Resource with a hands-on information booth and Food Trucks! Over $3,000 in auction and raffle prizes, including a 4 family multi pack to SeaWorld – valued over $700! Proceeds will benefit the Brevard Zoo, Oyster Restoration for the Indian River Lagoon. October 21     Teeny Bopper Halloween Costume Party
It is party time at the Teen Zone!  Find your best Halloween costume and join us for our Annual Halloween Teeny Bopper night. There will be a costume parade and prizes. No reservations needed, just come 6:30-9:30pm and pay $5 at the door. For youth kindergarten-6th grade.

October 21    Kids Ninja Warrior Challenge (NEW DATE)
Is there a Ninja Warrior in your household? Come compete in ninja obstacles & challenges including balance obstacles, warped wall and more! Find out if YOU are the next American Ninja Warrior!

October 22    Surfside Elem’s 2nd Annual Sprint for Shade
Bring the family to the DRS Community Center for this fun 5K to support Surfside Elementary PTO. Medals for ALL finishers in both a 5K and 1-miler as well as the combined Sprint for Shade Challenge (5K and 1-mile). Race begins at 7am. October 22    Halloween Happening (TIME CHANGE Starts at 4pm)
The SB Lions Club joins forces with Satellite Beach PAL to bring you this free event!  Beginning at 4pm,
a “spook parade” will walk west from the SB United Methodist Church to the Teen Zone where there will be activities including music, dancing, refreshments, games & prizes. The ages are  up to 2nd grade! Call PAL, (321) 777-8336 for more info.

November 4    Satellite Beach Founders Day & Marketplace (DATE CHANGE)
“Let’s Go To The Hop”   Join the City of Satellite Beach and the Satellite Beach Woman’s Club as we celebrate our Annual Founders Day and Marketplace, featuring more than 100 craft and specialty vendors, flea market and bake sale at the DRS Community Center.  Along with the days’ activities, the community will enjoy a parade of local clubs, groups and organizations all decked out in a “Let’s Go To The Hop” theme. The parade steps off promptly at 11am from the Delaura Middle School parking lot off Jackson Ave., winding through SB streets  ending up at the DRS Community Center, where families can enjoy various kids activities in addition to the marketplace. November 17     Food Trucks & Movie on the Green
SB Rec and SB PAL are joining forces for this event! Join us for a fun filled evening at our annual Food Trucks & Movie on the Green! Purchase dinner from local food trucks, serving from 5-9pm in the DRS parking lot. There will be music and fun kids’ activities prior to the movie at dusk. Bring your own blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy a  movie under the stars with family and friends.  Featuring a FREE showing of the movie Moana!

December 2    Ocean Reef Beach Festival
The ORB returns to Pelican Beach Park. Celebrate the ocean lifestyle with exciting conservation and recreation displays, activities and hands on learning! Over 90 exhibits and vendors including food trucks, local ocean artists, live music and more! The event is free and will be held from 10am-5pm.  Proceeds to benefit Surfrider Foundation and  Anglers For Conservation.

December    Twilight Santa
Stay tuned for dates that Satellite Beach Fire Rescue and the Reserve organization will present their annual “Twilight Santa”. These dates will be posted at www.satellitebeachfire.com

December 5    Phone Call from Santa’s Elves
The Satellite High School Jr. ROTC, along with the Satellite Beach Rec Dept, will provide calls from Santa’s Workshop. Parents can call our office at (321) 773-6458 and arrange for their child to receive a call from an elf. Mailed forms and calls are accepted through Mon, Dec 4 at 5pm. Santa’s elves will call only on Tues, Dec 5 from 5-8pm EST to any child in the Continental U.S. Print off the form “Santa Calls” online from http://www.satellitebeach.org/departments/recreation_department/forms.php.  Complete the form and fax to  (321) 777-5207 or mail/drop off at the Satellite Beach Recreation Dept, 1089 S. December 16    Jingle Bell Run 2 Miler
This race is part of the Running Zone’s Race Series to benefit Satellite High School Running Programs.

December 16     Boat Parade
The Banana River Power Squadron will sponsor the 2017 Holiday Boat  Parade. Participants should assemble that evening at the north end of Satellite Beach Grand Canal and travel south. For more information:  http://www.brsps.org/
